Oskol

Structure of participants of this campaign: Andrey, Victor, Vitaly (my messmates), I am and my wife. The list of that took with itself, has a little changed from resulted earlier: tents - 2 (2 and 3-seater), now at everyone were sleeping bags, have replaced a bucket a three-litre kettle, took less groats, it is more than canned food, vodka and cigarettes. The croup should take from calculation 200 г on the person in day, accordingly, if you are not going to eat one porridge it is possible to take even less. This time we have decided to float across Oskol, but to begin not far from that place where the river Urazovka runs into Oskol, i.e. With Уразовки (Russia, the Belgorod area) and to finish where it will turn out.
In the afternoon on August, 12th have plunged on a train and late at night profits on station Urazovka. As we would not like to collect kayaks on dark we have noted arrival directly at station. As soon as has started to dawn began to move things to the river. Assemblage of kayaks have started, when it was already light, have collected, have plunged, have floated. Minutes through 20 the first disappointment has followed - the river broke a cane wall (on a card of it, unfortunately, was not). Have gone on investigation, it has appeared, that it is necessary to enclose this cane of 4 km. Well, there's nothing to be done, have left my wife to guard things, and have transferred all for pair the walker together with kayaks. There not far there was any village with the roofs covered with a cane, in it we have typed water in the canister. Have again plunged, had a bite and have sailed. To hours to 12 have reached to mouth Уразовки, it there spreads on several small sleeves, forming some islets. In these sleeves very strong current, we with the wife have got to a sleeve on which termination the snag stuck out - it has hardly turned out to bypass it. Till 7 o'clock evenings floated across Oskol, on the left coast have found a place for spending the night while have put tents and have kindled a fire - has absolutely darkened. Have eaten and have laid down to sleep.
In the morning, having examined district, have decided to remain on couple of days on this place. The place was on the brink of wood, the sloe nearby grew, we have found a blueberry in wood, with myself at us was a few apples, and during the lunchtime Victor has treated us to compote. Except compote, there was still something essential - any more do not remember. All is remarkable, but my wife had discomfort. I have been compelled to recognize the error - it was not necessary to take her with myself. In general, I do not recommend to take with myself women if it is final they not any tourists, climbers or extremes, well they cannot without a warm bath and pure bed. Last morning on this parking we were woken by the cows trying our tents on durability. We had breakfast quickly, have gathered and have floated further.
We was floated all the day, with a lunch break a dry ration. Places there remarkable, on both coast wood, silence, birdies sing. To 6 pm we have looked after a place for parking in pine wood on the left coast, wood, the truth, was on a hill, it was necessary thing and kayak to lift upwards. We have put tents, have kindled a fire. Victor has made a supper. We had supper and have laid down to sleep. In the evening we has heard sounds of a train and before a dream the wife has offered me, to find in the morning station and to send it home. In the morning we had breakfast and have moved on searches. Somewhere to hours to 2 days the wife has sat down on an electric train and has left, and I have returned to camp, and already that did not sadden our rest :) Couple of days have stood on this parking. Then have gathered in the morning and have floated on 2-seater I with Vitaly and Andrey with Victor on 3-seater. In 11 am the strong rain has gone. Thoroughly having got wet, we have made the compelled halt.
Next day we have again set out. In parallel with us too on kayaks one more company, the man and the woman of middle age on 2-seater and two young men with two children on 3-seater floated. And we periodically each other overtook. Somehow we have almost overtaken them, floating a place where there were many snags, and there they were comprehended by failure: 3-seater the kayak has run into an underwater snag, has torn and has started to sink. Fortunately the river in this place was not wide, men have jumped out of a kayak and were in time push it to coast before it has had suffered much. Then we once again somehow with them were crossed, they have glued a kayak, but a day later from their company there was only a crew 2-seater kayaks, and they to us have told, that 3-seater all the same passed water. I slightly clung time and again snags, but serious failures done not happen. It is not necessary to hope especially for glue and rubber, it is better to watch closely to the forward oarsman it. As I already spoke earlier, the kayak gives not big to a immersion: 10 sm not loaded and hardly are more 15 sm loaded, therefore if water in the river pure the forward oarsman should see a snag. I can advise still that has made Andrey on the kayak: it has pasted over a bottom with strips of rubber which goes complete with a kayak, in those places where the cover adjoins to a skeleton.
We have once again stopped before Kupyansk (Ukraine, the Kharkov area), then in Kupyansk have filled up stocks of products. Just somewhere at this time in Moscow there was a putsch, and we had with itself a radio receiver, we still were then pinned how Gorbachev all the same has seized the Situation (beautiful name).
After Kupyansk left on the Krasnooskolsky reservoir, that day the strong wind blew and on a reservoir the big wave has risen not. The kayak does not love waves, it will not turn over on small waves, don't worry, but it is necessary to try to develop her nose or a stern to a wave, differently water will be splash through a board.
About stability of a kayak: sometime in the same swimming I tried to pass from coast aboard, and already became on it two feet, but the kayak has not turned over, it has simply departed from coast, and I have lost balance and have fallen in water.
Having a little overcome with elements, to 5 pm we have found a place for camping, have set up camp and have staid 2 or 3 days. Last evening my stay, we with Andrey late left at night to smoke, the others have already laid down to sleep. And here we have seen any stir on the river as it has appeared are poachers pulled a seine. It is necessary to tell what to catch a lot of fish it was not possible to whom, only Andrey on the first camping has caught 5 red-finned fish which has fried and my wife has eaten. So, when men with a seine have reached us, we have bought from them an average package of any fish. Somewhere in an hour have cleaned it, and have welded magnificent rich threefold to an ear in the morning. This very day during the lunchtime I should leave. And others have changed on 3-seater a kayak and have floated further.
Loaded with a kayak, a backpack and tent, I have reached by an electric train to Kupyansk, and there from by train Donetsk.
